What Animal Is Behind the Gate? This interactive zoo-themed speech and language activity targets WHAT questions and sentence formulation through a predictable Knock → Open routine. Students knock, open the gate, and discover which zoo animal is hiding behind it. After each reveal, students answer the question, “What animal is behind the gate?” and use a sentence strip to respond (“It is a ___” or “I see a ___”). Each animal is draggable, creating meaningful opportunities to practice core vocabulary such as “go” while building expressive language skills during play. Follow-up questions support vocabulary development, comprehension, sentence expansion, and MLU growth. This activity adapts easily for mixed groups and early language learners. Visual supports and sound effects are embedded throughout to increase engagement and support multimodal communicators. ⭐ A printable companion version is available separately. ⭐ This activity is also included in my Zoo Bundle.
