Description: Extend your A Color of His Own story companion with these engaging, print-and-go speech and language activities! This resource includes activities targeting color vocabulary, story comprehension, describing, comparing and contrasting, attributes, and expressive language. Students can practice identifying the colors of familiar items and animals from the story, then build higher-level language skills with visual compare-and-contrast Venn diagrams. Included: Color Matching Activity – Students look at 10 animals/items from the story and select the color that matches how each appears in the book. A completed color visual is also included for reference. Tiger vs. Chameleon Compare & Contrast – Students identify ways the two animals are the same and different using a visual Venn diagram. Goldfish vs. Parrot Compare & Contrast – A second Venn diagram provides additional opportunities to practice describing attributes, similarities, and differences. These activities are great for speech therapy, special education, small groups, literacy centers, and story-based language intervention. Easily adapt responses for students working at the single-word, phrase, or sentence level.
