Description

The goat brothers are hungry. There's plenty of grass on the other side of the bridge. But to get there, they'll need to get past the troll... This is the story of The Three Billy Goats Gruff, adapted for English language learners and illustrated with real photos of mountain goats and Norwegian landscapes that will capture children's imaginations. Your students can listen as they read along with this ebook featuring audio. You can make the story available in learning centers, project it on the whiteboard for whole-class instruction or assign it for children to practice reading at home. You might also use this story to supplement a grammar lesson on comparative and superlative adjectives. The three billy goats provide an entertaining context for the concepts of smaller, bigger, smallest, and biggest. I wrote this story for my students, who are learning English as a foreign language in elementary school. I wanted some ebooks that I could send them to practice reading at home. (Preferably about animals. My students love animals!) I found books to buy for my classroom, but none that I could send home to families. So I wrote some myself! Meets the following Common Core Standard: CCSS.ELA Reading Literature: .RL.3.2: Recount stories, including fables, folktales and myths from diverse cultures.
