Your ESL students will have fun reviewing vocabulary for talking about the classic fairy tale "The Three Billy Goats Gruff" with this engaging picture crossword puzzle. They will identify the following words and spell them correctly: biggest, bridge, goat, grass, horns, mountain, river, smallest, troll, waterfall. I've included two superlative adjective forms ("biggest" and "smallest") in this word list because I like to use the story of "Three Billy Goats Gruff" to reinforce superlative adjectives. I find that the three billy goats provide an entertaining context for the concepts of smallest and biggest. I created this crossword puzzle for my own students, who are learning English as a foreign language in elementary school. They need to learn vocabulary and spelling, but they also love to play. Word games like this one allow them to do both! Supports the following standards: - Common Core Language Arts: CCRA.L.2: Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English capitalization, punctuation, and spelling when writing.
