Description: There is a part of communication that does not take place through words but instead the volume of your voice, stress, prosody, speed, and intonation along with other non-verbal cues. Said in two different ways, the exact same words, can have two entirely different meanings to your communication partner. Our well-meaning students on the autism spectrum are usually misunderstood due to the paralinguistic aspect of their speech, even though there is nothing wrong with the linguistic message. This deck is an attempt to heighten their awareness of how their message is perceived differently than intended due to their tone/loudness, etc. so they can monitor themselves better. Good Luck!
