Description: Present the animal description as a responsive naming task. Slide the forest to the right to reveal a real photo of the animal. Slide the mossy rocks to the left to reveal the written word. The picture of the animal and the written word may be revealed separately to allow for scaffolding of picture naming, responsive naming, and read aloud to state the animal name. Because the photo covers are drag-able, visual and written cues may be graduated in difficulty, as needed. The animal descriptions provide opportunities for vocabulary, inferencing, context clues, and conversation. Animals included in this deck: cheetah, skunk, hippopotamus, jellyfish, cow, kangaroo, elephant, chicken, seahorse, pig, sloth, penguin, snail, chameleon, hamster, wolf, panda, turtle, owl, frog, flamingo, zebra, squirrel, butterfly, and sheep. Aligns with the following Common Core State Standards: CCRA.SL.2; CCRA.SL.4; CCRA.L.3; CCRA.L.4; CCRA.L.5
