Description: Sentence segmentation is one of the first skills we practice in phonological awareness. In this deck, students will recognize that sentences are made up of words, as they count the words in a sentence they hear and see. This skill will help them understand both spoken and written word, eventually aiding them in reading and writing. This deck is suitable for Kindergarten and First Grade. Students first listen to the auto audio sound clip, which is a 3 to 6-word sentence. They follow the words on the screen. If they want to listen again, click on the ear icon. Now, say the sentence again while dragging a button to each word. Count the number of buttons (words) and click on the correct answer. This deck is randomized, except for the first card, which serves as an instruction card. RF.K.1 Demonstrate understanding of the organization and basic features of print. RF.K.2 Demonstrate understanding of spoken words, syllables, and sounds (phonemes). RF.K.1c Understand that words are separated by spaces in print.
