This deck targets awareness and understanding of facial expressions and emotions using real photos. Students learn to identify and interpret the emotions happy, sad, afraid, angry, tired, and silly through structured teaching and guided practice. Each emotion includes 5 cards: Cards 1–2: Definition, synonyms, antonyms, and description of facial expressions and gestures Cards 3–5: Students compare and rank facial expressions based on how strongly they match the target emotion Students use a click-and-drag format to rank images from most to least representative. Responses are intentionally flexible, as more than one order may be appropriate. Facial expressions can be subtle and are sometimes misinterpreted. Encourage students to explain their reasoning when ranking images to support inferencing, perspective taking, and pragmatic language skills.
