Description

Guess who is on your partner's card with this two-person speaking game featuring real photos! Your ESL students will have fun asking and answering yes-no questions about popular hobbies with this interactive game. The deck includes approximately 60 cards, each showing a different photo. There are also ten different game boards to simulate the experience of shuffling the cards. Each game board contains a deck of 20 cards to choose from and a separate grid of 20 cards which players can "turn over" by clicking on the images. Each child sets up the game board on their own device to keep their chosen image a secret, creating a natural information gap that fosters authentic communication in English. "Who Is it?: Hobbies Edition" focuses on the following action verbs and verb phrases: build a robot, climb a tree, cook, dance, draw a picture, grow a plant, play chess, play the drums, read a book, ride a skateboard. Learners can review the vocabulary with a short drag-and-drop activity at the beginning of the deck. Students will practice grammar as well, including pronoun-antecedent agreement (use of "he" and "she") and question formation in the present progressive (also known as the present continuous) . My English learners usually have trouble with question word order, so I've supported them by adding the following sentence starters on each game board: "Is it...?"; "Is he...?"; "Is she...?" My students have a lot of fun with this game, and I hope yours will too!
