Description
This is a deck to target and heighten students' awareness of sounds and auditory discrimination skills. It includes some (not all) fricative sounds: f/p, v/b, s/t, z/d, sh/ch, and th/t in the initial, final, and medial positions of words. Students have to identify the one correct fricative sound out of four choices on each slide. Make sure to spend some time saying all the words on each slide and allow the student to attempt to find the one produced in a different manner. If he/she is unable to do that just yet, then help them distinguish a 'continuant' sound and a 'stop' and help build the muscle memory by practice drills of the fricative sounds.
