Description

This Valentine’s Day–themed deck helps students practice the foundational math skill of making 10 using a fun and engaging box of chocolates context. On each card, students count the number of chocolates already in the heart-shaped box. They then drag the correct number of chocolates from the side tray into the box to make a total of ten. After building ten, students complete the equation by filling in the missing addend. This visual and hands-on approach supports number sense, addition strategies, and understanding of composing numbers to ten. Audio directions are included to support early learners and independent practice. This deck is ideal for: Whole-group instruction Math centers Small groups Independent practice Intervention or review Oklahoma Academic Standards OAS: K.N.2.1 — Compose and decompose numbers up to 10 using objects and pictures. CCSS.Math.Content.K.OA.A.4 — For any number from 1 to 9, find the number that makes 10 when added to the given number, e.g., by using objects or drawings, and record the answer with a drawing or equation.
