In this activity, students match the 50 US states with their 2 letter abbreviations, practice spelling the names correctly, and identify each state's location on a US map. The deck is set up so that students can work on one region at a time, and then there is a final set of cards that reviews all 50 states. The regions are: Northeast (CT, DE, MA, MD, ME, NH, NJ, NY, PA, RI, VT), Southeast ( WV, VA, KY TN, NC, SC, GA, AL, MS, AR, LA, FL), Midwest, (OH, IN, MI, IL, MO, WI, MN, IA, KS, NE, SD, ND) Southwest, (TX, OK, NM, AZ) and West (CO, WY, MT, ID, WA, OR, UT, NV, CA, AK, HI) Although the focus is on the states' names, abbreviations, and locations, there are some photos included. This is a visually-based activity that may not be suitable for students with a visual impairment.
