Description

This interactive speech and language activity is part of my Flashlight & Lights On/Off WH-Question and Sentence Formulation series. In this activity, a boy goes for a walk and repeatedly turns the flashlight on and off. A draggable boy is used throughout the activity to encourage engagement and repeated practice. Students use a magic flashlight to look for each community helper in their environment in response to a where question. After locating the helper, the student will “find” each community helper. Each discovery is paired with sentence strips and AAC supports to model and encourage expressive language using the sentence: “I found a ___.” After each person is found, students answer an errorless “who” question to ensure success, confidence, and engagement for all learners. Targets & Extensions This activity can be used flexibly to work on: ✔ WH-questions (who, where) ✔ Vocabulary (community helpers) ✔ Sentence formulation & AAC use ✔ Concepts: on / off, light / dark ✔ Positional & spatial language (in, on, under, behind) ✔ Describing where the child or community helper is located in the town and near their workplace Audio and visual supports are embedded throughout the activity to support a wide range of learners. ⭐ This resource is part of my growing Flashlight & Light Activities Bundle.
