Preposition puzzles are a cross between an ESL picture dictation and a logic puzzle. This one features a building full of friendly community members who represent nine different jobs. This digital TPR game can be played by either one or two players. The one-player version draws on reading and listening skills whereas the two-player version develops oral communication skills. In both versions, students use prepositions of place and career vocabulary to solve logic problems. Moveable figures represent the following jobs: architect, artist, cook, dentist, doctor, musician, photographer, police officer, and teacher. English learners can review this vocabulary with a matching activity before they play. In the one-player version, students read the clues and place the figures on the game board to satisfy the conditions. This version is self-checking, so students get instant feedback. Audio is included to support emergent readers. In the two-player version, students use their oral communication skills and work as a team to produce matching versions of the game board. One student arranges the figures, and the other must ask questions to guess their locations. Sentence starters are provided. Both the one- and two-player versions feature seven levels of play, progressing from three figures to nine. Younger children can succeed at the lower levels, while older and more advanced students can challenge themselves to beat the game by completing all seven levels.
