Description: Your students will have fun reviewing past simple irregular verbs while learning about famous women scientists. This bundle includes four picture reveal games featuring the following accomplished female scientists: Mary Anning, Alice Ball, Marie Curie, and Inés Mexía. Each deck tells a biographical story in twenty sentences. The sentences are presented one at a time to highlight the target grammar point. Each sentence contains an irregular verb in the past simple form, which students must type correctly to complete a piece of the puzzle. Audio recordings are provided for each sentence to support emergent and struggling readers. The following irregular verbs are included: be, become, begin, bring, build, buy, can, choose, come, dig, drink, fall, find, get, give, go, grow, have, keep, know, leave, make, meet, put, read, ride, run, sell, sleep, speak, spend, swim, take, teach, wear, win, and write. A list of infinitive and past simple forms is given on the first slide to review and clarify verb forms and spellings. This resource supports the following second and third grade common core standards for English language arts: 2.1.D: Form and use the past tense of frequently occurring irregular verbs. 3.1.D: Form and use regular and irregular verbs. 3.1.E: Form and use the simple verb tenses. This resource would also be appropriate for English language learners in upper elementary or middle school who are learning to use past simple irregular verbs correctly.
