Description: Your students will have fun reviewing past simple irregular verbs while learning about kid inventors. This bundle includes four picture reveal games which focus on people who came up with significant inventions as children or teens. The following inventors are included: Louis Braille, Philo Farnsworth, Benjamin Franklin, and Chester Greenwood. Each deck tells an inventor's story in twenty sentences. The sentences are presented one at a time to highlight the target grammar point. Each sentence contains a past simple irregular verb. Students must type the verbs correctly to complete the puzzle. Audio recordings are provided to support emergent and struggling readers. The following irregular verbs are included: be, become, begin, break, build, can, come, cost, feel, find, get, give, go, have, hear, hurt, keep, know, lose, make, meet, put, read, run, say, see, sell, send, speak, spend, stand, take, teach, tell, think, wear, and win. A list of infinitive and past simple forms is given on the first slide to review and clarify verb forms and spellings. This resource supports the following second and third grade common core standards for ELA: 2.1.D: Form and use the past tense of frequently occurring irregular verbs. 3.1.D: Form and use regular and irregular verbs. 3.1.E: Form and use the simple verb tenses. This resource would also be appropriate for ESL students in upper elementary or middle school who are learning to use past simple irregular verbs correctly.
