Description: These task cards help your students analyze, identify, and use the different types of context clues authors incorporate within text to help the reader understand unknown words. These 24 task cards cover identifying context clues and selecting the correct meaning of the word. As with all Boom Cards in our store, the cards become progressively more challenging moving from identifying types of context clues to choosing the correct meaning. Card 1: Students match the 5 types of context clues to their definitions. (Inference, Definition, Example, Antonyms and Synonyms) Cards 2-9: Students read the sentence and analyze how the underlined word relates to the word in bold. Students then select the type of context clue being used from the multiple choice options. Cards 10-15: Students read the sentence and analyze how the word in bold is being supported by context clues. Students select the type of context clue being used from the multiple choice options. Students then select the meaning of the word in bold. Cards 16-24: Students select the correct meaning of the word in bold using clues found within the sentence.
