Description: This Boom Learning deck is designed to help students practice identifying and correcting common grammar mistakes in sentences. The deck covers the following skills: Adverbs vs Adjectives: Students will learn how to use adverbs and adjectives correctly in sentences, such as “Ivan is a large gorilla” or “Julia paints well with her watercolors”. Comparatives and Superlatives: Students will learn how to form and use comparatives and superlatives correctly in sentences, such as “This was the worst tragedy of Ivan’s life” or “The animals in the zoo look happier than the animals in the mall”. Spelling: Students will learn how to spell words correctly, especially those that are often confused or misspelled, such as “happier” or “suspicious”. The deck contains 28 questions in total, each with a sentence that has a grammar mistake. The students will have to either change one word in the sentence to fix the mistake, retype the sentence to make the correction, or spell the word correctly. The questions are based on the book “The One and Only Ivan” by Katherine Applegate, but the students do not need to have read the book to answer the questions. The deck is suitable for grades 3-5 and can be used as a review, assessment, or enrichment activity.
