About me: <p>Gay Miller is an experienced and passionate educator specializing in teaching tools for upper elementary students. She is the creator of Book Units Teacher, a website and blog that provides resources for language arts, math, science, social studies, and more. She has designed hundreds of novel studies, short stories, animated short lessons, and other activities that help students develop their reading, writing, vocabulary, and comprehension skills.</p> <p><br /> Gay holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education for K-12 and a Master’s in Learning Disabilities from Appalachian State University. She also has a gifted certification from Walters State Community College. With 34 years of teaching experience in upper elementary grades, many in inclusion settings, she brings a wealth of practical knowledge and expertise to her work.</p> <p><br /> Gay’s influence extends beyond the classroom, as she has served as a technology site coordinator and communications and technology chair for both her local chapter and the Tennessee State Organization of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. In these roles, she has not only taught teachers, parents, and students how to use various digital tools and platforms effectively but also contributed to curriculum creation and instructional coaching. This diverse experience further enhances her ability to develop comprehensive educational resources.</p> <p><br /> A lifelong learner, Gay loves to explore new topics and share her knowledge with others. In her free time, she enjoys reading, traveling, gardening, and spending time with her family and pets. She lives in Blowing Rock, North Carolina.</p>
