Description: “Valentine’s Day Fact Families” was created to help students understand related number sentences. Your students will use cute dominoes with hearts to practice identifying numbers from a fact family to complete related addition and subtraction sentences. This will help them improve their skills with identifying missing numbers in a number sentence and members of a fact family. There are 20 cards with a colorful Valentine's Day design. Each has a domino, two addition sentences, two subtraction sentences, and a box to type the sum of the dominoes. How to Use: -The students will view the domino and identify the two numbers. -They will type the sum of the two numbers in the purple box below the domino. - The students will type 1 - 2 numbers missing from the related sentences, - The students will click the "Submit" button. Instructions are recorded on cards 1 and 3. "Boom™ is the trademark of Boom Learning. Use strategies such as counting on; making ten (e.g., 8 + 6 = 8 + 2 + 4 = 10 + 4 = 14); decomposing a number leading to a ten (e.g., 13 - 4 = 13 - 3 - 1 = 10 - 1 = 9); using the relationship between addition and subtraction (e.g., knowing that 8 + 4 = 12, one knows 12 - 8 = 4); and creating equivalent but easier or known sums (e.g., adding 6 + 7 by creating the known equivalent 6 + 6 + 1 = 12 + 1 = 13).
