Description: Students practice their listening and counting by 5s skills in this activity. They click on the till / cash register to hear how much money they "owe", and then put the appropriate number of coins on the counter next to the register and click submit to check their answer. Students need to be able to first recognize the number, and then count by 5s to put the correct number of coins on the counter. Good for English language learners who need extra practice listening and recognizing numbers 5 through 100, or any students who need practice working on counting by 5s to reach a specific total. The amounts range from 5 cents to 100 cents (expressed as "one dollar" in this activity, not "100 cents"), and the cards will be presented in a different order every time the game is played. There are 20 cards in the deck, with a random selection of 10 presented in random order each round. Although students need to be able to count to 100 by 5's, I understand that dragging so many coins may be too challenging for some students, so I have another version of this deck that doesn't ask students to count beyond 50, therefore dragging a maximum of 10 coins instead of the maximum of 20 in this deck.
