Your ESL students will enjoy competing to sink their partner's battleships in this classic strategy game with a Thanksgiving theme. Students will review traditional Thanksgiving foods and practice adding an "s" for third person singular verbs in the present tense. They'll also develop speaking, listening, and critical thinking skills. Includes the following Thanksgiving foods: apple, corn, pie, potatoes, pumpkin, turkey. "Sink the Ships" is a versatile game. You can assign it as pair work, include it in learning stations or use it as a reward. Plus, you can use it for all kinds of language. Students can use the bonus editable board to create their own games. My favorite thing about this game is that it develops so many different skills: logic and critical thinking, speaking and listening, grammar and vocabulary. Kids love it because they're challenged, engaged, and determined to win! If you plan to use the video tutorial, please note that you may have to adjust browser and filtering settings first. Videos on Boom are not reliable when played in apps, but will play in standard (not private or incognito) browser mode. Also, please be aware that schools may block or filter video content.
