Description: Use this fall scarecrow themed activity to provide your students with a fun and engaging way to practice beginning sounds. There are 26 cards, one card for each of of the 26 letters of the alphabet. Students look at the picture inside the large square on the card. Next, students click on the sound icon next to the picture to listen to the word that the picture represents spoken aloud. Students then tap the letter that makes the sound heard at the beginning of the word. This deck supports the following two kindergarten standards: CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RF.K.3.A Demonstrate basic knowledge of one-to-one letter-sound correspondences by producing the primary sound or many of the most frequent sounds for each consonant. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RF.K.3.B Associate the long and short sounds with the common spellings (graphemes) for the five major vowels. Ideal for kindergarten, the deck would also serve as a useful resource for pre-K and first grade.
