Description: In this simple 51-card game, the player hears and sees a simple word and must choose between two spellings, one with the final E and one without. Players will practice listening for the short and long vowel sounds in the words and will internalize the use of the magic E. The player can press the image on each page to hear the word repeated as many times as necessary. Because there are so many pages in this game, it is recommended as homework (students can play once a day for a whole week's worth of assignments) or as learning centers (so that the teacher can look at class data over time to see problematic sounds and words and work on them in class) but not as a Fast pin, which would necessitate players doing all 51 cards at once. Short/long vowel word pairs the players must differentiate include: at / ate can / cane cap / cape car / care cop / cope cub / cube cut / cute fin / fine hat / hate her / here hop / hope hug / huge kit / kite man / mane mad / made mop / mope pan / pane past / paste pin / pine rip / ripe rod / rode star / stare slid / slide tap / tape tub / tube There are two other versions of this game, differing only in setup and difficulty level, or all 3 games are available in a mini-bundle here: https://wow.boomlearning.com/store/bundle/zHAjr557rq8nD4EkE
