Description: These three worksheets can be used on their own to teach and revise long A vowel sound spellings, or with the Alternative spellings AY, AI, A_E and tricky words Boom Cards. Students complete the words with the correct alternative spellings of the long A vowel sound. The worksheets become more challenging, with tricky words (common irregular spellings of the sound) in later worksheets. Use before projecting the Boom Cards on the screen or get students to complete the spellings as they drag and drop the correct spellings. They can also be used to assess students' spelling after using the Boom Cards. The lesson plan provides suggestions for using the worksheets with the Long A Vowel Sound Alternative Spellings Boom Cards and also contains an answer key.
