INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Click on the title button (purple text box containing the title) to go to the 2nd page. 2. If you opt to do the open-ended response, type your answer then click on either the 'choices' button (to teach other possible questions) or the arrow (to go to the next scenario). 3. If you click on the choices button, drag the choice (speech bubble) to the speech bubble near the characters. Click submit or the arrow button. This deck mainly targets initiating conversations or topics. The first few slides teach the importance of initiating conversations and the possible ways to do it. 15 scenarios are included. The scenarios will require the child to either ask a relevant question or make a relevant comment to initiate a conversation. The child can either come up with his/her utterance (fill in the blank/speech bubble) or pick from the 2 choices provided. Just leave the speech bubble blank and click the 'choices' button to see the choices. If the child already came up with his/her own conversation starter, you may also use the 2 choices to teach other possible conversation starters. You may also teach him/her why a certain question/comment from the choices cannot be used as a conversation starter. After this, you may do role plays and continue the conversation. This then can target other goals, such as: 1. Asking follow-up questions 2. Making comments 3. Topic maintenance 4. Topic termination 5. Turn taking (regulating speaking turns) ...and more! Have fun!
