Description: When looking for lists of idioms, I often notice that the go-to examples are fun but outdated - "raining cats and dogs", or "let the cat out of the bag". These are interesting examples of figurative language but not often used in daily life anymore. I love listening to the day-to-day speech of other people and finding examples of nonliteral language - so much so, in fact, that I keep a running list until I have enough new examples for a new nonliteral language deck! This deck contains nonliteral language that one might really hear in daily life. This makes learning these phrases relevant for students, and offers a better assessment of how much nonliteral language they are picking up from real world conversations, as these are phrases they have likely heard in real life at some point.
