Description: This is the digitalized version of a lesson (49 cards) I have been teaching for years. A light bulb seems to go on over students' heads! The lesson is a sort of "flow chart" of all the easiest tips to simplify fractions: 1) look for zeros at the end and eliminate them (divide by 10) 2) look to see if both numbers are even and cut them in half 3)does the numerator divide into the denominator? ex 3/9 = 1/3 4) if both numbers end in 5's or 0's, they can be divided by 5 5) when none of the above helps, use the greatest common factor! Practice questions are sprinkled throughout the lesson for students to practice each tip.
