Description: This Valentine's Day ear-training deck helps develop the ability to identify short melodic patterns. Students listen to a three-note melody, then choose the puzzle piece with the correct notation to complete the Valentine's heart. Notation examples are written both "stems-up" and "stems-down". This deck can also be used for melodic playback practice, as all melodies begin and end within the C pentascale (CDEFG). The starting note is displayed discreetly in the lower left corner of each card. Only 2nds and repeated notes are used. Questions are multiple choice, with the correct answer to be dragged into position to complete the puzzle. Instructions are provided in both written and audio form, with the first two cards playing automatically. The next eight cards are randomized, providing a different game each time. Accessibility guidelines have been followed with alt-text for images and sound. However, because this deck is meant to develop listening skills it will not be suitable for students with hearing loss. The drag-and-drop features are large, but may not be suitable for students needing motor accommodations. Great for beginning musicians in any program: band, choir, solo instrument, piano, group or online classes, and homeschooling. Helpful to prepare for melody playback exam requirements.
