Are your students struggling with the concept of place value now that decimals have been added to the mix? I created this simple lesson to reinforce the basic idea of place value from ten thousands to hundredths. The first few slides review the place value chart and give two examples of the place value of an underlined digit. Please note: For the purposes of this deck, the term PLACE VALUE refers to the place or POSITION of a digit, not its value. For example, hundredths, tenths, ones, tens, etc. Students are asked to examine a number, determine the place value of an underlined digit, and then click on the correct place value term. What’s included? *5 instructional cards *25 practice cards asking students to determine the place value of an underlined digit While I created this set with my 4th graders in mind, these cards can also be used with third graders and with upper grade students for review and remediation purposes.
