Description: Help your students form plurals and learn to spell words containing the suffixes -s and -es. This Drag & Spell activity mimics the magnetic tiles used in many Orton-Gillingham programs, and it's a great way to build phonics & spelling skills. Using Elkonin boxes & letter tiles with one sound per letter also builds phonemic awareness & orthographic mapping, which leads to better reading fluency! How it Works: Students see a picture and hear the word. Then they drag letter tiles into boxes to spell the word. Good to Know: • There are 33 cards: one instructional card that explains what the suffixes mean and how to choose between them. Then there are 32 spelling cards. • All words contain short vowel sounds only (closed syllables) • There are a few cards that contain words that follow the FLOSS rule (double s or z), but you can easily hide them if you'd rather skip these cards. • Words with consonant blends & digraphs are included. Again, you can easily hide these cards if you'd rather avoid them.
