Description: Does your poetry unit need a little boost? Learning the terminology for any subject is half the battle! Over the past 15 years, I have created a list of terms my students have needed to know to fully appreciate our study of poetry AND to be successful on standardized testing. **THIS VOCABULARY DECK IS ONE OF THREE decks of cards that have effectively taught my students the essential elements of poetry over the years.** It has also been a terrific addition to our test prep collection! *****This resource does NOT teach poetry writing but instead focuses on the terminology of the elements of poetry and identifying those elements.***** What’s included: DECK TWO: This deck of 38 interactive task cards provides definitions of the previously learned vocabulary and asks students to choose the correct term. This deck is terminology ONLY; it does not contain examples or application practice. Some of the definitions featured in this resource: --Figurative Language --Parts of a poem: speaker, lines, stanza, etc. --Elements such as rhythm, meter, etc. --Five common types of poems I have used this vocabulary resource in 4th grade through 8th grade in a variety of different settings with much success.
