Description

Build vocabulary for verbs by identifying pictures or labeling/formulating sentences while searching for matches. Target 32 tier 1 common actions/verbs. Students can practice receptive identification of each verb on cards 3 - 34 and then engage in a fun matching game while practicing labeling the actions or formulating sentences on cards 35 - 38. To play the matching game: 1. Decide who will be grasshoppers and who will be butterflies. Player 1 chooses a shape (ex. yellow triangle, purple circle, etc.) and drags it to the discard box. They name the action underneath (or formulate a sentence with the action/verb). 2. Player 2 repeats step 1. 3. Players 1 and 2 keep taking turns until someone uncovers a match. It doesn't matter who uncovered the first picture. Whomever uncovers the matching picture drags/drops their insects to the matching pair to claim them. 4. Continue taking turns until all matches have been located. Each player counts the number of their insect on the board. The player with the most matches wins. There are 4 matching games for play. The locations are randomized, so it's a different game each time you play.
