Description: Do your adult ESL students mix up their /th/ sounds with their /s/ sounds and vice versa? They may not be able to HEAR that tricky /θ/ sound as many languages don't have it. If they cannot hear the /θ/, how can they distinguish between it and the /s/? For that, they need practice. For each card, students will hear a word pair. They must identify whether they've heard the SAME word twice or two DIFFERENT ones. For extra support, they can also click on the sound icons in the bottom left-hand corner to hear just the /s/ and /θ/ sounds in isolation. Fifteen of the minimal pairs are for initial sounds, and eight are for final. As with all my decks, I made this one with adult students in mind. It will not appeal to young learners. I based this deck on a worksheet in my θ/S pronunciation resource available in my TpT store. Teaching adult ESL students? You've hit the jackpot! My entire store is devoted to adult ESL resources.
