Description

Finally a self-advocacy lesson for the older students on your caseload. This Digital Slides lesson includes 57 slides. This resource will teach students what it means to be a self-advocate in the academic setting. Multiple scenarios will be reviewed that could happen at school, and the student will respond to these and be provided with potential solutions. What's Included? This lesson includes 57 slides. This is an interactive lesson to review with your students. This lesson will review learning styles and multiple relevant scenarios to practice how to self-advocate. How do I use This Resource? I like to project this resource on my whiteboard and review either individually or in a small group setting. I like to combine this lesson with reviewing the student's IEP with them. Prior to the lesson, I ask the student what their IEP goals and services are. I like to print their goals and services so that they are aware as we review this resource. After reviewing the scenario with your student, there is a slide for your student to discuss their answer(s). The following slide will have examples of ways to self-advocate related to each scenario. Why do I need this? Relevant resources for middle-high school students can be hard to find. Also this resource helps students with a very important life skill-Self Advocacy. This lesson was created to help middle-high school students better understand their IEP/education plan and accommodations/modifications included.
