Description

Make targeting syntax goals festive with a winter-themed activity all about FANBOYS– the 7 coordinating conjunctions (for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so)! Students will practice creating compound sentences using fun winter themes like snow, skiing, snowmen, and hot chocolate. Each conjunction is presented clearly, systematically, and one at a time, so students aren’t confused. An icon is used for each conjunction to provide a visual cue, helping students remember their meanings as they practice. Each of the 7 coordinating conjunctions includes: 1️⃣ A SHORT LESSON that explains when to use the conjunction and gives a clear example + demo 2️⃣ Interactive PRACTICE ACTIVITIES to apply the skill: - Sentence Building: Students drag and drop sentence parts and a conjunction into the correct order (5 cards). - Sentence Combining: Students read 2 simple winter sentences and combine them by typing (or recording) one complete sentence using the target conjunction (5 cards). Please note that these tasks are not self-grading. At the end, challenge students with 10 cards of mixed practice where they choose the correct coordinating conjunction (from a field of three options) to finish each winter sentence. This conjunctions resource blends explicit instruction, sentence-level practice, and seasonal fun. It can be worked through step by step during class or therapy sessions or sent to students as independent practice or homework to reinforce concepts.
