Description
This deck lets students practice sounding out and blending words with both beginning and ending consonant digraphs (ch, sh, th, wh, ck). What's included: All words are one-syllable (closed) with short vowel sounds and range from three to five phonemes (sounds). Most words contain digraphs only at the beginning or end, but some have both ("chick"). There are a few cards with digraph blends too (shr-, thr-, -nch). If those are too challenging or if you'd prefer to have your students practice just beginning or ending digraphs, you can always hide cards and reveal them later. There are 51 cards in total, one that explains the activity and 50 reading cards. How it works: The word is printed on the card with a dot underneath each sound. Students place their finger on each dot and give the sound. Then they slide their finger under the word, blending the sounds together to read the word. Finally, they click on the picture that shows the correct word. There is sound support for each digraph, so if students are unsure of the sound, they can click to hear it.
