Description

Students solve absolute value equations with 20 self-checking digital task cards. Every equation has two solutions, and students type both. Skills covered: Equations with nothing outside the absolute value, such as |x + 3| = 7 A coefficient inside the absolute value, such as |2x − 1| = 9 Adding or subtracting a number outside, such as |x − 2| + 3 = 10 Multiplying by a number outside, such as 3|x − 1| = 12 Two operations outside, such as 2|x + 4| + 1 = 11 Cards 1–10 have nothing outside the absolute value. Cards 11–20 have numbers outside, so students isolate the absolute value first. All solutions are integers. The deck works for independent practice, homework, stations, review, and sub plans. Each card includes alt text for screen reader users. Backgrounds were polished and alt text were created with the help of AI (Claude by Anthropic) and reviewed by the author for accuracy.
