Name the Category Screener is an essential tool in my SLP Toolbox! I am so excited to have a simple organized way to pretest and post test a student's ability to label categories. Included in this set is a list of 46 categories & subcategories with word lists to teach the students. There is also a checklist for recording results from the screening. The set is divided into 7 sections including people, food, rooms of house, animals-insects, weather, vehicles and school. There are 3 pictures per set. The student names the category in response to you saying, for example, "Corn, broccoli and carrots all belong to the group of ____" It is your choice as to how many categories to screen. Answers are hidden behind the "answer" card just in case your students can read. Additional features include the colorful Hierarchy Language Chart and Screener. Please note that you will not be able to see the answers if using PowerPoint Presentation mode. The ability to categorize and subcategorize words and concepts is a skill necessary to build and organize words in the child’s “filing cabinet”, resulting in improved comprehension and expressive language skills. Click on the "filing cabinet" link to check out my poster and word recall activities for YOUR BRAIN IS LIKE A FILING CABINET. Working on category identification and naming are popular goals for my students. Here is a Category Sort Bundle of 5 BOOM Card sets addressing categories https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/C
