Description

This NO FLUFF activity helps students learn and practice important skills related to job interviews and professional expectations. Students will explore common interview concepts such as preparing for an interview, understanding employer expectations, appropriate attire, body language, resumes, timeliness, and what to do after an interview. Throughout the activity, students will read statements and scenarios and decide whether they represent appropriate or inappropriate interview behaviors. These examples help students identify common mistakes and better understand the expectations that are often part of professional environments. The goal of this activity is not to judge mistakes, but to help students recognize workplace norms and build confidence when preparing for interviews. Students will learn strategies for presenting themselves positively while still staying authentic and true to who they are. This activity is designed to support middle school, high school, and transition-age students, including those working on social communication, executive functioning, vocational readiness, and life skills. Skills targeted include: • Interview preparation • Professional communication • Understanding workplace expectations • Self-advocacy and problem-solving • Perspective taking and social reasoning
