Social Awareness Activities for Students Strengthen social emotional learning using this social awareness expected vs unexpected activity for adolescents and teens. Students consider social situations with 4 conversational turns. The student is required to demonstrate situational awareness while considering the words that are being said in the conversation. Then, the student is asked to move each conversational talk bubble into either the expected or unexpected column. Each scenario promotes conversation with an adult as to why each statement is either expected or unexpected. This helps to develop the skill of perspective-taking and empathy using a mediated learning approach and metacognitive strategies (included). Included: - Extension Activity Suggestions are also provided that support a Mediated Learning Experience with metacognitive strategies - 1 guided practice card - 25 real-life situation and picture cards - 4 conversational turns per card for a total of 100 trials
