Description: This BOOM deck is a full WIDA ACCESS practice test for Newcomer and Beginner ESL students. There are 20 questions, 5 for each language domain. All cards in the deck are self-correcting except the speaking (you will have to evaluate the recordings the students make). However, the recordings for the speaking section can be done right in the BOOM card slides! You just need to make sure that the students click "Allow" if the computer asks them to access their microphone. This practice test covers WIDA ELD Standard 1: Social and Instructional Language, as that is what most beginner ESL students are lerning for the first year. Questions are on familiar topics and reading passages are short and written in beginner-friendly language. The listening section is spoken in clear, slightly slower English. Still a normal pace, but just a little bit slowed so that beginners can have a chance of understanding. (It sounds like the recordings you've heard on every other standardized test).
