These words follow the VC-CV pattern with short vowels and a few words with r-controlled vowels (/or/ and /er/). After students successfully divide the word into its two syllables, students then listen to four options to select the word that is read correctly. This deck is great for assessing students' phonological awareness and ability to segment and blend sounds together.
