Description: Help your students learn the consonant doubling rules that go along with combining 1-1-1 words and suffixes! In this deck of digital task cards, students will get plenty of chances to practice spelling the words that result from combining one syllable words with vowel or consonant suffixes. Students will learn to double consonants when adding a vowel suffix to words with 1 syllable, 1 vowel, and 1 consonant after the vowel. On each card, students must identify whether or not the base word is a 1-1-1 word and whether or not the suffix is a vowel suffix. Then, students will be asked to type the words that result from combining the base word and suffix. Students will practice this spelling generalization with both real and nonsense words. All 50 cards include audio so that students can hear the directions as well as the word they are being asked to spell.
