Description: Use a FUN, Groundhog Day THEME to target ARTICULATION in speech therapy! Not only will students love the holiday theme, but they'll be MOTIVATED to practice their speech sounds to find out if their groundhog sees its shadow when they're done! This activity is straightforward, but keeps students in SUSPENSE! ✅ From a clickable MENU, choose the card for your student's articulation goal. ✅ The student PRACTICES each of the 12 words on the card, clicking to check off each one as they go. ✅ Then, the student PREDICTS whether or not they think their groundhog will see its shadow... and clicks to find out! This Groundhog Day activity appeals to slightly OLDER students since the targets are words (and not pictures). You can adapt the activity by having students CREATE their own phrases, sentences, or a story from several or all of the listed words or IMITIATE a model from the SLP or parent. Target specific articulation goals, with separate cards for each of the following sounds: ✅ /f, v, th, s, z, sh, ch, j, l/ (initial, medial and final for each) ✅ Initial /r/ and vocalic -ar, -er, -air, -ire, -ear, -or (1 card each) ✅ 2 cards each for /r/ blends, /s/ blends, and /l/ blends (mixed) Use this speech therapy activity for Groundhog Day to SURPRISE your students and facilitate practice in a new way! Pair it with any other Groundhog Day materials for a UNIQUE and FUN lesson.
