Introduce dynamics to young beginners using play and exploration. Students will learn to recognize names and simple definitions (aural only) as well as the dynamic symbols. These are presented in families. The "quiet family" includes pianissimo, piano, and mezzo piano. The "loud family" includes mezzo forte, forte, and fortissimo. The volume of each dynamic level is associated with animals of different sizes. Students explore by touching symbols to hear their name or definition, then play through a variety of sorting activities that match size to sound, sound to symbol, and symbol to sound. All instructions are audio only. No reading is required, although recognition of the letters "p", "m", and "f" is useful. The first 12 cards play sequentially and provide practice with the different symbols and their names, followed by a short, randomized 6-card multiple choice quiz activity. Great for students in their first year or two of music studies for any instrument. Use for online or in-person lessons, group classes, preschool classes, music lab, take home assignments, homeschooling.
