Looking for a fun way to practice spelling CVC words with the short E sound? This deck contains 21 Drag and Spell cards with the shortE sound. This activity mimics the magnetic tiles used in many Orton-Gillingham or other structured literacy programs, and it's a great way to build your students' phonics knowledge and introduce them to spelling words with these short vowel sounds. Using Elkonin boxes and letter tiles with one sound per letter also builds phonemic awareness and facilitates the process of orthographic mapping! How it Works: Students see a picture and hear the word pronounced. Then they drag letter tiles into boxes to spell the word. Good to Know: • All the words contain closed syllables with short vowel sounds and follow a CVC pattern, which means there are no blends or digraphs. • Audio is provided for all instructions and for every word, so students can click to hear the word pronounced if they aren't sure what the picture is.
