Description: This Phonological Processes activity is perfect for working with students who are using Velar Fronting, producing /t/ and /d/ as a substitution for /k/ and /g/, This common process is generally resolved by the age of 4 years, but occasionally persists. This activity provides minimal pairs to improve the child's auditory discrimination of the pairs of phonemes, with clear illustrations. You can first use the images to have the child choose which word they hear YOU produce, to help them tune into the difference. Next, you can swap roles and show the child which picture you're hearing THEM say. Last, there are 18 target images, with words, for each of the four phonemes in all positions of words. As a BONUS, there is a tic-tac-toe slide after each section to use as a break or reward for a job well done. The deck contains: 20 Slides of /t/ and /k/ minimal pairs (e.g. "take" and "cake", "sick" and "sit") 20 slides of /d/ and /g/ minimal pairs (e.g. "down" and "gown", "mud" and "mug") 18 initial /t/, 18 medial /t/ and 18 final /t/ images- disappear when clicked. 18 initial /d/, 18 medial /d/ and 18 final /d/ images- disappear when clicked. 18 initial /k/, 18 medial /k/, 18 final /k/ images- disappear when clicked. 18 initial /g/, 18 medial /g/. 18 final /g/ images- disappear when clicked. BONUS Tic Tac Toe game following each section.
