Description: This Earth Day mini-lesson teaches elementary students about recycling and composting. Throughout the lesson are quick activities to evaluate comprehension of the vocabulary and extend the concepts discussed on the teaching cards. Short passages explain what composting and recycling is. Specific examples and photographs are used to help students connect to the information. Students complete activities throughout the lesson to practice identifying what items can be composted and/or recycled and dragging them to the proper bin. There is a quick review of recycling and composting at the end of the mini-lesson. Students fill in the blanks to label each definition and provide examples that they learned about. This recycling and composting mini-lesson is a language-rich activity to use with your speech therapy students.
