Subjects: math

Grades: 13

Description: This set includes a table of contents and 20 slides in four different themes (with a total of 81 slides). By dragging counters onto a ten frame, students practice composing and decomposing teen numbers with emphasis on teens being a set of 10 and some additional ones. Each theme includes two types of exercises. In the first, students see an equation such as 10+3=___. They then drag three counters into the empty ten frame and count to conclude that the sum is 13. In the second type of exercise, the second addend is missing--for example 10+__=13. Students again drag counters and type in the missing number. This deck is great practice for the kindergarten Common Core State Standard K.NBTA.1 *Compose and decompose numbers from 11 to 19 into ten ones and some further ones, e.g., by using objects or drawings, and record each composition or decomposition by a drawing or equation (such as 18 = 10 + 8); understand that these numbers are composed of ten ones and one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, or nine ones.*
